These same “basic and concise shapes” are found here in the six animals: the horse “Pegaso”, the mouse “Mickey”, the boar/pig “Babe”, and the buffalo/cow “Carolina”.

If their names make them familiar, echoing mythological/literary/fairy-tale imagery, it is precisely the material- black, white and sometimes fluorescent -that takes us by surprise for the aesthetic vision it lends to these zoomorphic masks, making them different from Anna’s design approach to the animals (both domestic and wild) that were often her subjects, but always wonderfully and sympathetically ironic in their meditative philosophizing.
